Princeton Record Exchange

In the summer of '06 I finally made my way to the "PREX." While my first impression did not match the wonderland my mind had dreamed up the hours of digging were eventually rewarded. The markdown "bin," an area I always gravitate toward, contained thousands of cds, records, singles, and dvds.

My best finds were that ultrarare late-80s Twin Tone LP by the band "Skunk" ($1), a promo dvd of the movie "Afro Punk" which was just about to come out on dvd ($1.49), a live Jay Farrar EP I'd never seen ($2.99), and new CD promos from DJ Krush and Black Helicopter (on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label) for $1.99 each.

If you're a person interested in all kinds of different music (their jazz and classical sections are huge, as well) and movies you'll undoubtedly come across some things that you've never seen, and some things that you absolutely have to own. This was a day trip that was well worth the cost (about $20) and the time. See their web site for directions to the store and there's good food, beer, and coffee within blocks of the Exchange.
